Family Support Worker

Mr Phillips, Family Support Worker.

Hi, I’m Richard Phillips, Albert Bradbeer Primary Family Support Worker (FSW). I am here to support children and their families through any difficulties they may contend with.

I have an open door policy and I am happy for parents to pop in and see me if I am available. If not you are welcome to book an appointment.

Support available for children and families:

  • I listen and appreciate parents/carers issues and offer suggestions and advice for individuals and families on behaviour management, boundaries, routines, school attendance and punctuality, e-safety, healthy eating to name a few. I can also refer and signpost to other services available within the district.
  • I work with and support families during key school transition, including newcomers and those moving on to secondary school.
  • I work with and support families whose children have complex/special educational needs.
  • I work with families who are going through difficult times including relationship breakdown, bereavement, mental well-being and financial hardship
  • In consultation with parents/carers I can support children on a 1:1 basis through listening, understanding and supporting e.g. anger management and control, key school transitions, development of pupil self-esteem and confidence, friendship issues, bullying including social networking and family issues, e.g. bereavement, new baby in the family, parent’s separation/divorce.

Attendance Monitoring

Attendance will be monitored on a daily basis and if your child’s attendance drops below 90% a process will begin where you as parents/carers can be fined up to £120 per term, per child. Lateness is also something that needs to be stamped out. If you are struggling to get your children to school on time, contact me for support.

Attending school is imperative for ALL children, in order for them to succeed.
