Year
5

Welcome to the year 5 page.

This year the teachers are Mrs Lynch, Mr Marshall (5LM) and Miss Peet (5P). Our teaching assistants are Mrs Jordan and Mr Tongue. We have lots of exciting opportunities planned with lots of amazing learning experiences. We very much look forward to a successful year with all of the children in Year 5.

For English and Maths we will be following the national curriculum for Year 5.

In Year 5 we cover some fun and exciting topics. These include:

Our history units aim to include the learning of early civilisations like the ancient Egyptians as well as key events in English history such as the plague or black death. Our Tudor topic is always popular with the children as they explore the life of King Henry VIII and how Tudor people lived during this time.

In Geography, our trade topic links nicely with our black death unit, where the children learn how the plague spread from far away countries to England on trade boats. The children then learn about modern day trading and the need for importing and exporting. Biomes is also a wonderful way for children in year 5 to explore a host of different geographical climates and environments including the animals and plants that live there.
